Eggs: The cost has risen again. At $1.49 a dozen for large eggs, I will reiterate the use of medium size eggs (at about $1.00 a dozen) for fried, scrambled and other eggs. We may want to consider using the large eggs just in baking.
Question: Has anyone tried baking using medium sized eggs rather than large?
Large eggs = $1.49+ tax per dozen = .13 cents per egg
Medium eggs = .99+ tax per dozen = .09 cents per egg

Bread was on sale at IGA for $1.00 for a giant loaf. I was also able to purchase English muffins at 2/$1.00. Both store brands. I stocked up on the English muffins.

Powdered milk: A large box, that makes 28 quarts, is $3.00 cheaper at Hannaford than at IGA. So:
Powdered milk = $15.99+ tax for 28 quarts = .60 cents per quart, reconstituted
Skim milk = $3.59+ tax per gallon = .94 cents per quart. It is still cheaper for me to purchase powdered milk for using in baking/cooking, and for mixing with the other milk for drinking.

Note: When using foodstamps, we do not pay for tax. I only get enough foodstamps for part of the month, so I sometimes have to pay tax.
